Fred "Buck" Polich The impetus for “Buck’s” Guide Service began in 1968 when my wife and I took our first fishing trip on the White River. The White River was ‘in my blood’ and two years later I started guiding on its beautiful, crystal clear waters. A year later I discovered another great trout fishing resource on the North Fork of the White River. At that time and throughout the 90’s the North Fork may have been the greatest trout stream in the United States. The North Fork became highly recognized after the popular movie “A River Runs Through It,” which emphasized the joy and serenity of fly fishing for trout. For thirty-one years I combined teaching (elementary and middle school math) with guiding for trout on the White and North Fork Rivers. It was a wonderful combination. I retired from the classroom in 2004. If I were to script my life for a movie I would change nothing. God has blessed me with two satisfying professions. One of the real highlights of my guiding career was being featured in several outdoor magazines which was a springboard for me during the 1980’s. |

My guiding specialty is spin-fishing. I work with and for several independent guides, resorts and trout services. Although at this time I do not specialize in fly fishing trips I can give you references for guides who specialize in fly fishing.
